To answer some of the questions: I intend to use the garage (20X25) just for hobby and office space. Lights and other outlets are on separate breakers and there is no big load except maybe a TV and a computer. I used the smaller ground because that's what I had and the inspector said on the phone that the ground could be a size smaller. Thinking about it, since I'm in EMT conduit, that suffices as the grounding path and I don't need the separate ground wires anyway so I suppose I could just pull the grounds out altoghether to reduce fill. The inspector (on the phone) now said I don't need #10 in the run through the attic because it is run in conduit. (he thought I was running sheathed electrical cable up there and when I asked him why the existing sheathed electrical cable isn't derated for heat, he said he didn't know.) So if I repull #12 in that circuit, I should reduce fill in my existing J/switch box. (Yes, Doug, the switch is the only fixture in that box...the GFCI feeding is in another. Actually, I think I'll just add a new breaker and GFCI for the end of the garage now fed by the #10 and re-run the conduit directly to the panel. Would be nice if the inspector had as much knowledge as the people on this board. Any how, thanks for the thoughts. Dave
