I have seen on the tradingspaces show countertops that were painted. I'm interisted in this idea beacause my countertops are fairly new but in a mauve or semi pink color. I hate pinky colors. My kitchen is in black and stainless appliances. The countertops are stapled to my cabinets or I would have just purchased new cabinets as well as countertops. I also thought about laminating but that stuff can peel and costly.
