The shower in our upstairs bathroom is leaking through the light fixture in our kitchen and we don't know who to call first - the plumber or the electrician!! And my wife wants to kill me because - like everything else that goes wrong with the house - its my fault! I believe the water is getting in through small cracks between old tiles because when I run the bathtub alone there is no leakage. The problem only occurs when the shower is running. And there is no evidence of leakage from pipes. Its an old house (80 yrs) and the wood around the base of the tub (under linoleum)is wet. The kitchen ceiling (directly below the tub) is plaster and lath, and the paint is cracking and bubbling on that as well which leads me to believe this is wet too.
So I assume I will need to replace the tiles and the drywall around the tub, but my question is whether I will need to replace the wood floor around the base of the tub and the kitchen ceiling beneath that.
