Basement Rough-In Posted by plumber Tom on October 7th, 2003 07:46 PM In reply to Bathroom in the basement cast iron Pipes Help !!! by Chuck on October 7th, 2003 09:26 AM [Go to top of thread]
You will need a wye (fitting) to make the tie in. In your case, cut (2) 6" pieces of PVC and glue them into each end of the wye. Measure the entire new wye from pipe end to pipe end. Transfer this measurement onto the cast-iron, and cut it out. Use (2) Fernco bands to connect the wye. Use a slip 45 to pick up the water closet. Your wye fitting is now called a "combo". If the cast-iron pipe size in the floor is 4", you may reduce the branch of the wye to 3" for a water closet. Be sure to check your local codes. If you need more help as to roughing off the wall for your toilet, post back. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
