Window sash replacement vs. vinyl Posted by Greg Cline on October 8th, 2003 01:39 PM In reply to Window sash replacement vs. vinyl by John on August 27th, 2003 05:49 AM [Go to top of thread]
I would recommend using the sash replacement windows over the vinyl windows.
Depending on where you are located, wood usually has a greater perception of being a better product than vinyl. Vinyl has the stigma of being a cheap option to wood, and this, for the most part holds true. Wood, however, will have more maintenance over its lifetime unless you get the sashes cladded.
You are correct on the sash kits not changing the look of the house. You can also stain the interior to match your existing woodwork.
I have used the sash replacement kit before, and I can tell you that they are easier to install than the vinyl windows and they don't look as cheap as the vinyl. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
