Maytag Neptune Washing Machine Posted by Julius and Ellen Dias on October 8th, 2003 04:39 PM In reply to front load neptune by Deborah on April 16th, 2003 07:59 PM [Go to top of thread]
Boy, do I hear you people! I have had nothing but problems with my machine. First, within two months of purchase, I had the mold problem, and they had to install a complete retrofit along with one of the "boards", it took them 6 months to take care of it. Then, in another six months, the thing stopped spinning and draining, so they had to come out and replace the computer, I call it the brain, (as in the machine is brainless). After another 8 or 9 months, the thing stopped spinning and draining, again. Again, they had to replace the board and computer. Now, we had to pay for service and parts while these were under warranty. We had to fight to get some of the money back. Next, a little over a year ago, it went out and nobody seemed able to fix it and Maytag kept forcing us to go back to the retailer, who could not get it fixed. t 1/2 months later without a machine and only after I started screaming "Lemon" and "attorney", Maytag finally stepped in. They had to replace the door and latch, the board, the computer and the tray for the soap, since that had cracked and was falling into the machine from the top. It has now been 1 year and the machine is out, again. Maytag was just here and will have to replace everything yet another time, however they have said they will pick up the bill. The repairman is trying to tell me that the problem is that 1.) I don't use hot or warm water for EVERY load, 2.) that I must have spilled Chlorox onto the tray to cause it to crack (I don't use Chlorox, maybe once a month and VERY LITTLE to be certain it only hits the specific part of the tray since I don't want bleach in the soap, right?), 3.) I HAVE TO use bleach at least once weekly, 4.) That if I don't use the specific soap that has the HE on the label that the drum will gum up. 5.) That we need to put a surge protector on the wall connection, not just any kind, though. 6.) I must use dish soap in the machine to clean out the mold and residue at least every three months, and later he said every 4 months. This machine cost a lot of money. I expected an heavy duty machine that could work without problems. There are only two of us in the house and three when our only son was home. This machine was purchased in 1999 has never worked more than 3 loads per week and for the last three years my husband and I have only 1 load per week and babied the thing every step of the way. I truly regret having spent any money on this $1000 piece of junk! I will NEVER shop from the retailer nor will I ever own another anything that is Maytag! Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
