The 'hood' (not sure what the real part is called), that fits over the main chamber has rusted and now has a hole in it. Are parts available? It looks like it could be removed as screws are holding it on, and the rest of the furnace seems to be working, except now the rust has created a hole, it's not causing a 'sucking' noise and can't heat up enough to kick on.
If parts are not available, does anyone think that welding some sheet metal over the hole and cleaning out the rust inside might fix the problem, or is this furnace 'cooked'?
This furnace was original to my mobile home, made about 1963.
