Crawlspaces are notorious for having cold floors. Failing to vent a crawlspace is also a bad plan, its a bit of a catch 22.
When you do the floor, beyond batting, consider applying 2" polystyrene to the underside of the joists, it has a decent R value, and will also create a thermal break between the wood joists and the colder temps. Use 3" - 3 1/2" plastic head nails min to apply the Polystyrene.
You might also want to consider having an insulation company come out and spray foam in the area. I haven't seen this, but insulating underneath a crawlspace can be very difficult. Many insulation companies are actually cheaper or only slightly more than DIY because they can get the materials so cheap, but they aren't too friendly on small jobs usually. I'd call one for sure.
