Gas line question- Dryer won't heat

Posted by Brian Vogel on October 11th, 2003 08:50 AM

We just moved into our new house, and had appliances delivered the other day.

Wife went to use new washer & gas dryer. After loading the items in the dryer (Kenmore) she noticed the drying was tumbling, but never heated.

We hooked this up to a capped gas line running into the basement.

After thinking for awhile, I remembered when we first viewed the house, the prior owners had an electric dryer, even though the gas pipe was right next to the laundry area. I am wondering now if that was personal preference, or if this gas line is actually not hooked up.

Is there a safe, easy way for me to tell if this line is actually receiving fuel? I guess there is a small possibility that the dryer is damaged, but seems unlikely.

Thanks in advance.
