I'm building a large, two level deck. This Spring I finished the upper level using the grey Fiberon and we are absolutely delighted with the look and feel of it. This week I went to the local Home Depot to order the decking for the lower level and encountered what to me is a disaster. They've changed the surface tecture from a lightly embossed wood grain to a deeply ridged surface and the gray color from an attractive pewter to an ugly, speckled grey with brown highlights. It now looks like Choicedeck, which we had stongly rejected in favor of Fiberon.
The new decking looks terrible next to the earlier surface and has a very unpleasant, abrasive feel. And all the pieces I have saved from the upper deck to use on stairs and angled corners is useless, adding to my cost. I feel totally stuck and bummed out. I was recommending Fiberon to all my friends, but now I would recommend they look elsewhere.
