I think CPH stands for Changes Per Hour or "Air Changes Per Hour." This is number of times air in space being served by unit is supplied and returned with air (changed out). If heat pump is sized properly (400 square feet per ton is good rule o thumb), use the factory default. If it turns out its undersized, go to 9 CPH and vice versa.
