i am planning to finish my basement in the near future. i am going for an industrial look, so i want to paint the structure (joists, ductwork etc...) in lieu of drywall or dropped ceiling. However, someone told me that painting joists, pipes and ductwork will put tension on everything causing the air-conditioning and heating to be very "noisy" when turned on. is there any validity to this or has anyone else had any problems?
