Latex Polyurethanes Posted by BobF on October 19th, 2003 08:07 PM In reply to water-based polyurethanes by Arlene Kriv on October 19th, 2003 11:00 AM [Go to top of thread]
I'm no expert on these but I do use a lot of Varathane's Diamond Finish on cabinets, etc. I don't believe they call it a latex poly; it is some different. They have several varieties, one for floors. They claim it is tougher than polyurethane, and they ought to know.
Of the brands you mention, the only one I recognize is Minwax; the others must be local to you.
The DF requires three coats because it goes on thin; this may be true of the others as well. But it dries so fast, you can apply three coats in a day. I just finished oak thresholds with the exterior version and it was easy to use. It was actually dry to the touch in about 30 minutes (and this was in Newport Beach, CA), but I had to wait around for it to cure enough to recoat (two hours). Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
