NEVER pour grease down there unless you want to be cleaning the rotting greasy gunk out from the cleanout in the basement in a couple of years. Previous owner of my house did that and the cleaning out was putrifyingly disgusting.
In addition, about 1x a week I pour boiling hot water down the sink to make sure that stuff like the gluten from starchy foods after washing dishes doesn't clog the pipes.
