nail polish remover spill on lacquered oak

I spilled an amount of nail polish remover on our oak kitchen table. The table is stained with light oak and then shellac. The remover ate holes in the shellac. Can we just repair the holes in the shellac or must the whole thing be refinished. This is on one side of a round table that expands with leafs.
