hot water furnace Posted by Hector on October 23rd, 2003 06:31 PM In reply to Water Leaking from Furnace by Bruce in Mankato on March 22nd, 2003 01:00 PM [Go to top of thread]
I own a 40 yr old home with an older hot water furnace system. On one side there is a thicker pipe which I assume is the return water valve. On the other side, an equelly thick pipe that divides into 4 other thiner pipes which I supplies the induvidual rooms. Recently a friend of mine who thought was doing me a favor, change the settings in the outflowing valves. Now, although the boiler is heating properly, only 2, sometimes just one pipe remains hot to the touch. Last night, the one I assume is the return pipe, was the only one that remained hot.
I'm thinking is a matter of water pressure, but I'm not sure. I'm also not sure of which valves are suppossed to be completely open, and which are suppossed to remain close. Any ideas? Am I making any sense? Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
