We bought a house a little over a year ago so these sump pumps are new to us. About 4-6 months ago our sump pump area smelled really bad and the water in there was black. The pump works fine. My husband cleaned it out and fresh water was there and no smell. Now once again it stinks and the water is bad. What is causing this and how do I treat it?
