I am trying to finish a desk made from new wood. The wood was sanded, wiped clean with mineral spirits, pre-conditioned, stained with a natural stain and then sealed with a polyurethane. Several white or whitened areas appeared. We used birch, pine and a hardwood. Thoughts????
