depending on how fast the drip is, I have had luck after cutting & preparing the fitting for soldering, I have stuffed a piece of bread into the pipe. It will absorb the drip and give you time, if you act quickly, to sweat a coupling in place. after you've finished, the bread will flush out thru the faucet easily....
