I have a similar problem with my 1998 Ford Ranger. It is a 2WD/XLT 4.0 liter automatic. My OD/OFF light will begin to flash after driving the vehicle for about 30 minutes. It also begins to shift hard, particularly from first to second gear. If I turn off the ignition and restart the vehicle, the light stops flashing and the truck shifts normally. Anyone with ideas?
