Steve, I have heard there are special seals needed if your toilet is to be placed on a ceramic tile floor and that often people ("do it yourselfers") do not know to use them. These seals raise the level of the toilet and if not used the result is often a leaky toilet and over time, a rotten bathroom floor. This is what happened in one of my bathrooms and now my husband and I are in the process of having to replace a very good portion of our bathroom floor, possibly all of it and some floor in the adjoining rooms.
