Remove adhesive from concrete

We have a concrete patio that until recently had a outdoor carpet surface. (we removed it) We also have a pool that is much newer than the patio. We are thinking of covering the patio with something that would compliment the pool. (No more carpet)
Question one: There is a considerable amount of yellow weather proof adhesive still on the patio, how do we remove it?
Question two: If we use an outdoor tile, slate or quarry, how do we prepare the surface of the old patio? Question three: What is the best non-slip surface for around a pool/patio?
