Exterior Brick Woes

I just bought a great brick/frame home build in 1957. Unfortunately the previousl owner spilled pain on the brick in multiple places.

In order to get the house looking great again I am thinking about painting the exterior brick. Or washing it all from top to bottom.

Any suggestions for how to get the brick looking great again?
