I have recently purchased a townhome that has a water softener and no direction booklet. Since the machine was unplugged when I bought the unit and salt was still in the tank I assume it will work. My question is: What is the ratio of salt to water in the tank? Someone said the salt is always supposed to be deeper than the water and someone said the reverse. Can you help me?
