Can I install 5/16" x 3 1/2" tongue and groove pine directy over "popcorn" finished drywall ceiling by predrilling and nailing with 4d finish nails through tongue into ceiling joists? Will it be strong enough to hold it up? Can I use a power nailer or would it split the tongues?
