sinking floors / ceilings Posted by Dave on November 8th, 2003 08:24 AM
My house is about 12 years old and I had just purchased it about 2.5 years ago. Last winter I had noticed that the upstairs bedroom wall was seperating from the ceiling and the upstairs bathroom doors were starting to not close all the way. Both bathroom doors and the upstair bedroom wall are on the same joist. I had an Engineer to the house who said that the weight of ice and snow had caused it and the insurance would cover it. The contractor rehung doors added bracing to the floor joists and added bracing to the ceiling. The repair was completed at the beginning of the summer. Now the same problem is starting to occur but obviously there was no snow during the summer. Any Ideas? Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
