I assume by you insulating your floor joists you are in a colder climate? You are not heating your basement? Don't you have water pipes etc running through your basement that might freeze? To the contrary you should heat your basement, heat rises and the end result is warmer floors and a more comfortable house. I think you are wasting money insulating your floor joists.
