My experience with Simmons is that one side of the mattress (the edge) has given way and shifted outward. The mattress has lost all its support on that side of the bed. When this happened over a year ago, when the bed was not even a yeear old, we called Simmons who sent some other company out to look at the mattress and we never heard from them again either way. If this is the kind of cutomer service that a large company like Simmons is practicing I will not be doing business with them in the future and I will certainly tell my friends not to either.
