We have old fashioned (circa 1925) tongue and groove pine subloor (3/4 inch). The joists run about 9 feet from wall to wall. Old fashioned tile or linoleum is on top (asbestos?) of the subfloor. Can we leave the old tile (it is sturdy and hasn't curled)? Do we also need to put concrete board on top? The tile is foot square marble. Would it be better to use inch square mosaic? Any help would be appreciated.
