Refinish marbel

I have a black marble bath, floors, walls, counter tops and bath/shower. The marble is stained from the hard water, I need to remove the alkaline, but it also seems that the finish needs to be fixed. I have used a cleaner and marble polish but doesnt seem to help, also cleaned and then put a marble sealer, then polished doesnt help, is there a way to get the shine back, what products can I use? I thought maybe a buffing pad with my sander would slightly resurface then I could apply some type of high grade permananet polish
