help... my 19th century home had a 1970's decor face lift!

We bought a Victorian single family home in the Highland Roxbury section of Boston. The home is circa 1876 and is a real hidden jewel... literally, in the sense that we have been in major restoration work since we moved in 18 months ago. the last time the house had a face lift was in the early 70's and unfortunately, the previous owners went with the 70's decor...

My question is the original porch was turned into this obtrusive boxed in clubhouse, which looks like a giant sore on the front of our house... any suggestions for what we could do to restore the front porch to be somewhat original with the home?
