In preparation for installing a hardwood floor. I discover water damage to both the subfloor and to the bottom plate of the exterior wall on both sides of a double door. The door is being replaced. Does anyone have a suggestion for removing the rotten sole plate? Without the total destruction of the wall. I was thinking of using a salzall and cutting the plate free from subfloor and enough of the studs to allow me to fit in a doubled up pressure treated 2x4. The rot only extends about 8 inches on either side of the door.
