When is the last time you had the septic tank pumped? If it has been more than 2 years, call the local septic tank service man and get it pumped as soon as you can.
It is possible that you have a plugged line going to or from your septic tank, and it is backing up into the house, and leaking out at the lowest points (bottom of the toilet) However, if that were the case, the toilet would be very slow to flush.
Go outside where the tank is located and see if the ground is wet around the cover. That would be a sign that it is backed up.
The septic man should be able to recommend someone to clear the plug if that is what it is.
