Johern, you can "overstain" with a compatable jel stain. If you used regular Minwax stain, you will want an oil based stain. A gel or jel stain covers much more than liquid stains. A common application is for making metal or fiberglass doors look like wood doors. The grain of the wood does not show through a jel stain like it does with liquid stain but you should be able to find a color that will be very close to the Minwax stains color--or you can do the whole table. Just follow the directions on the can.
