What is standard height for Exterior French doors? Most window manufacturers sell doors with rough opening 6-8", and also 6'-11". If you purchase a 6-8" door and install it in new construction and figure 5/4 Head jam, and 3/4" finish flooring, your finish height to the inside of Head jamb=78". This is 2" lower than 80" which is the height at which windows are hung. - Why do they offer this door size? Is this a convention? or is it for replacement of existing patio door? Or were windows hung lower in the past???
