Cut 6" starter collars into the supply trunks and run rigid pipe to the desired heated locations in your basement. Purchase the starter collars with the pre-installed dampers. This way you can close them off when your not working down there. Also when your in the basement, simply leave the door open. The heat will rise up to the 1st floor.
