exposure hazards of cellulose Posted by Suzanne Miller on November 20th, 2003 06:06 PM In reply to Visibly vs. Less-visibly.... by David on April 6th, 2003 03:27 AM [Go to top of thread]
My nightmare began 9 MO ago after I had a keyless entry installed in my car. I began to experience severe skin irritation literally all over (including my lips, nose, ears)I developed a chronic cough resulting in "walking pneumonia".I had no idea what was wrong with me untill after I had driven my car for 4 MO.During that time my drivers side window was stuck and in the open position for a month. Turns out that the insulation on the firewall behind the steering wheel was torn and frayed with a fist size hole. There was a lg. accumulation of the same material on and under my skin. Microanalysis showed the material to be the same--cotton cellulose, flax cellulose ,glass wool and mineral wool...documented to be used for sound and or heat insulation.I can find no safety studies, however it is on the list to be studied by some gov't agency.I have layer upon layer of this under my skin and, unlike fiberglass, which is eliminated fairly quickly through an inflamatory process, cellulose accumulates and takes months for the body to get rid of it.Long story short my life has been turned upside and inside out.
