noise from doors Posted by dp on November 21st, 2003 01:40 AM In reply to Noisey garage doors by Dave on November 21st, 2003 12:16 AM [Go to top of thread]
you could make sure all the bolts on hindges, drive support brackets, rollers and what ever else on the door and related tracks are snug and tight
then grease(not oil) grease the tracks and contact arears of rollers, drive chain or worm gear, use a small disposable paint brush. then oil(like 10w40 or similar thick oil) to the hinges, roller bearings and drive chain or worm gear
then make sure the springs are not rubbing on anything
then if your door is sheet metal you could construction adhesive 1/2" foam panels to insdide of door. cut them to fit and butter with adhesive and glue in plavce. this would be rigded foam insulation, the stuff they use to insulate homes onder the new style stucco. available at lumber yard
this should make it pretty quiet as well as makeing it last longer as youll be going over everything make sure its tight and well lubracted
have fun Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
