likened to a job interview. It is your opportunity to present your case for why you should be paid what you are asking. Helping a potential customer, even showing how they can do it themselves, leaves them with the impression that you are someone to call back on something else in the future even if it does turn out to be a no sale on this item. And most importantly, as Linda notes, you can expect referrals...the most effective advertising you can get. When you answer questions that might be construed as the potential customer "just picking your brain", you have the opportunity to point out all the reasons why it may not be in their interests to DIY. Unfortunately, I have found through long experience, if you treat customers like this, they will bury you with work and cut into your time for visiting your grandkids. Luck, Kizmet
