Don't trust anybody's opinion on exactly how to construct the foundation out of hand. I'm now building a new home in the area, and I plan to consult with at least three structural engineers in the area, and builders and architects as well. Best NOT to use the advise of any contracter who has ties to realtors in the area, as they are all thick as thieves, and will say pretty much anything to get a sale or job. Best to consult with an independent expert, including acadamics who teach structural engineering and won't mis-lead you. Buyer Beware! Trust your own judgement and do your own independant reasearch!!!!
