Combo---go for it!

Fix the tiles and be ready to do it over in a short time--or put in the fiberglass and have a great shower/tub virtually forever.
We went thru it some years ago--fix one area of tiles just to find another area bad some time later, so we put in fiberglass--that was several years ago, and the walk-in shower in my 3/4 bath still looks great just like the three-piece tub/shower in wife's full bath still looks great. Not cheap at all!
We had to use the three-piece combo because the one-piece combo would not go through the door.
Yes, it was a lot of work, but well worth the effort. As far as the faucet goes, why cannot you continue to use the same faucet--just mount it into the new fiberglass tub.
