Hi, Malcolm. It's not the T&G that limits how long your porch floor will hold up but the kind of wood used. There are several "exotic" woods coming into the country now that will hold up much longer than the pine you are probably now using. Cedar is a longlasting wood and not expensive but does tend to be rough or splintery and it does not hold up exceptionally well to abrasion.
Rather than replace your floor every 5 years, you might want to check on availablity of the long lasting "exotic" inported wood in your area and then get it milled for T&G. This will be more expensive in the short run than replacing your floor with pine but you should be able to find a wood that will last for 30 years.
