install copper cornice in kitchen

I purchased this cornice to use as a trim in my kitchen, the problem is any information I get refers to putting the cornice up after I have put up a metal ceiling, which I am not doing. There is no explanation on cutting corners and I get conflicting information on how to adhere or nail or do both applications to put up the cornice. This was quite expensive so II do not want to botch or waste any of the material. I would truly appreciate any help. Thanks
