Paint Removal

Friends,

My wife and I purchased an old house built in 1880 and we would like to restore the woodwork. I have tried 5f5 remover and a heat gun. I have tried these separately and as a combination and have failed. Is there anything else that I can try before we give up and paint over AGAIN and/or replace? We are also worried about the lead- will this cause us or infants any harm?
