I have two columns suporting a beam in what was at one time a garage. Many years ago it was turned into a family room, but the two lally colums make the space less usedful than it could be. What are the possibilities for moving the columns to each end of the beam...a span of ~26'.....would a steel beam be needed to replace the current beam for the loads?????
