I have a solution to your problem. I Have 3/8" tapered ipe' wood plugs. I cut my own plugs right here in my shop. I sell hundreds of thousands of them around the world just for what you are looking for. I also have what I like to think is the best hidden deck fastening system in the world. I know my fasteners are up to 3 times harder than my competitors because they are fibreglass reinforced to stop from overdriving the screw through them.
