Installing stone tile on plywood flooring

I am in the process in replacing vinyl flooring from my bathroom on the 2nd floor with stone tile. The floor consists of plywood. I do not know the thickness.

I have two questions: The height of the floor needs to be lower than the carpet. Currently, the height of the carpet is 6/16" above the current plywood flooring. I am wondering if the current flooring is durable enough for the stone tile. Should I need to replace with different substrate material which can affect my height? It seems that the floor is durable. The second question is there anything else required between the thin set mortar and the plywood floor?

Thank you in advance.
