It will do precisely what the original poster doesn't want to happen: make the ink run and discolor the paper...not to mention loosen the paper from the wall...

Try using spray lacquer in a can. You can get it at the paint departments of most home improvment centers or at art supply stores.

It is what artists use to spray renderings and sketches to keep them from smudging.
