Bathroom floor

Posted by Allison Milnes on December 5th, 2003 01:23 PM

I recently bought a house and it has a room built in the basement with a shower in it. My problem is that there is no ceiling (just rafters) over it and the shower must have leaked for quite some time because the plywood flooring is rotting. I'm not sure if I need to replace the floor, because it still seems strong, it it just discolored and the top plywood layers are peeling up. So, should I replace the floor or is there another way to fix it?? If I should replace, what type of wood should I use to resist moisture? and what type of wood should I use for installing a ceiling?
