In reply to Water pressure & Rotten Egg smell by Resa on December 6th, 2003 07:50 PM [Go to top of thread]

Greetings Resa,

Do you have well water or Town/City water?

Is it just the kitchen water pressure?

If you have well water you might have too much sulfer in your water and it will smell like rotten eggs. The hot water will smell even worse!

As far as your water pressure is concerned, make sure all the valves are turned on all the way.

If they are you can easily test the pressure by checking it at the outside hose bib.

Go to your local hardware or big box store and tell the clerk what you want to do and they may have a guage all made up or you can make one for short money. (water pressure guage and a couple of fittings to make it fit on your hose bib.)

After connecting it to the hose bib, turn on the water and it should give you the pressure that is coming into the house. It should be around 60 PSI.

Good luck,
Jason
